Black washing machines and yellow decor have ensured that washdays will never be dull for residents of the Newtown area of Chester.

This is the colour scheme for a new community launderette with Warner Howard supplying all the laundry equipment.

The YMCA were quick to spot a need in the area, which is home to elderly residents who previously had to travel many miles to launder their clothes. It was instrumental in raising the funds from local charities and commercial enterprises to build and equip the new launderette.

Besides being a valuable facility in itself, the launderette is intended to become a focal point for local residents, since it also houses a community room where people can meet for a chat over a coffee whilst the washing is being done.

The YMCA chose Warner Howard to equip the new launderette based on their experience of working together on other projects in an association stretching back many years. Warner Howard supplied seven 7 kg washers, two 10 kg washers and eight tumble dryers. Four of the dryers were stacked over the washers to save space. The remaining four are floor standing for easier access by customers in wheelchairs.

Once the installation was completed, Warner Howard gave full training in the use of the equipment to centre staff and also provide a continuous service back-up.
