NORTH AMERICA
TRSA, the association that represents the nearly $50-billion linen, uniform and facility services industry in North America, is staging its 34th annual Roger F Cocivera Production Management Institute (PMI) 11-15 August at the University of Maryland. PMI equips attendees with essential tools for successful and efficient linen, uniform and facility services plant operations through interactive, classroom style lectures, group exercises and presentations led by subject-matter experts.

Session I topics include:

  • Soil Sort
  • Wash Aisle
  • Wash Formula Troubleshooting
  • Conditioning & Drying
  • Finishing
  • Packout
  • Delivery & Routes
  • Scheduling & Managing Workflow
  • HR Fundamentals, including Recruiting & Retention
  • Inventory Control
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Quality Assurance Manual

PMI is a two-part in-person program with sessions one year apart. Between the two sessions, participants engage in self-paced, online modules covering topics such as human resources, communications, finance, time/project management, and business ethics. In Session II, they receive four additional days of interactive instruction to further refine their production and laundry-specific management skills.

After completion of  Session II, students will have the option to take the Certified Professional Laundry Manager (CPLM) certification test online, earning a designation that represents the baseline knowledge for all graduates.

PMI stands out for its collaborative approach, requiring participants to work together on real-world case studies. Additionally, visits to local state-of-the-art laundries are integrated into the curriculum.

Feedback from last year’s attendees highlights the value of study sessions with peers, engaging group exercises, and the quality content delivered by subject-matter experts. One graduate succinctly summarized the experience: “Overall, it was excellent training for production managers and gives you a chance to see what you can do at your plant to improve production.”

PMI runs concurrently with TRSA’s 59th Annual Ehrlich-Stempler Executive Management Institute (EMI), offering program participants unique networking opportunities during free time, meals, and evening social events. Leaders in the linen, uniform, and facility services industry come together to share information and build relationships.

The inclusive registration fee covers educational components, meals, lodging, and transportation to and from evening event. Visit trsa.org/pmi for more information and to register. Save $300 by registering before 28 June.
