Symphony Environmental has developed a totally degradable, and non-toxic film suitable for the laundry and drycleaning industry.
Conventional polythene film, says the company, produces tremendous environmental problems adding to the growing piles of plastic waste.
It has now produced a film that is totally degradable, disappearing within around 18 months to leave, water, CO2 and biomass. In other respects the degradable film performs in exactly the same way as conventional film and can be machined and printed.
Symphony business development manager, Robert Bobroff said that the drycleaning and laundry film was a new venture for the company, although it has long experience in degradable films and has produced similar films for other industries.
Initially it would be supplied directly by the company to customers specific requirements. However, Symphony has been in discussions with the trade may consider standard products later.
