The first results from the pilot in the Switch Asia project to promote sustainable laundering and reduce energy use in China have proved promising.
The team met on 23 – 24 May when members heard from the three laundries taking part in the pilot, which is based in Nanjing and Jingzhou. The meeting discussed the draft manual and team members signed the official agreement on Public-Private Partnerships.
Team members also discussed options for introducing the voluntary agreement in the rest of China.
CINET, the umbrella textile care organisation that has a co-ordinating role in Switch Asia, presented the International Standard for Best Practices in Safe and Sustainable Processing of Textile Cleaning.
