UK: EPOS specialist SPOT Business Systems has cut charge rates on credit-card transactions to 1.51%.
The new low rate covers major credit cards such as Visa and Mastercard. To qualify, drycleaners or photoprocessors have to call a special hot-line number and confirm that they are using an EPOS system supplied by SPOT. No paperwork is involved and the new rates will apply within 24 hours.
Rates are guaranteed regardless of turnover or whether the actual credit-card processing is carried out using SPOT’s integrated software or a standard PDQ terminal.
Flat rate SPOT claims the move could save drycleaners hundreds of pounds each year. It will be a particular benefit to independents who typically pay 2-3% commission and sometimes as much as 4% because of lack of bargaining power.
A flat-rate charge of 15p applies to the bank charge cards such as Switch, Solo, Delta and Electron.
