Johnson Service Group announced on Monday 4 September that after 33 years with the group, chief executive officer Chris Sander has informed the board of his intention to retire from JSG in the first half of 2018.
The board has commenced a detailed process, both internally and externally, to identify a successor who will continue the group’s successful growth strategy. In order to ensure a smooth handover, Chris remains flexible over the date of his retirement in the first half of 2018 and will remain available to assist his successor in the initial handover period. A further announcement regarding succession will be made in due course.
Paul Moody, chairman of JSG, said: “The board makes this announcement with a degree of sadness. It has been a genuine privilege to work with Chris; under his leadership, JSG has made enormous progress. The group has grown significantly in recent years, enlarging its presence geographically and building its position in chosen markets.
“Our strong platform of textile rental businesses is supported by a highly committed and talented management team; the board continues to see significant opportunities for JSG in the future.”
Chris Sander said: “This has been one of the most difficult decisions that I have had to make in my career as JSG has been part of my life for over 33 years. However, I will be retiring at a time when the group is in excellent shape and very well placed for continued growth. My successor will inherit a strong management team and devoted employees. Their talents and efforts have been the bedrock of JSG’s success.”
