Part of a broader six-year review to update Pollution Prevention and Control (PPC) process guidance (PG) notes, PG 6/46 (11) Dry Cleaning replaces the previous versions.
The main change, apart from some simplification, is an allowance where ecofilters are used (35%) rather than rake-out (15%) or pump out (60%), according to Mike Etkind, head of Local Authority Pollution Control at Defra.
“We expect local authorities to allow use of the new figure, in appropriate circumstances, as soon as is reasonably practicable,” said Etkind.
