Carol Jose was so disappointed when she found her local launderette in Church Village, Pontypridd closed down that she decided to make it viable again. The shop recently reopened, kitted out in two weeks by Direct Laundry Installations with Electrolux equipment: five W75 and two W160 Emerald-series washer-extractors plus five T3290 tumble dryers. “The reaction from the public has been excellent,” said Ms Jose, whose background is in accountancy. “Lots of people have said to me how glad they are that the launderette has re-opened, and what a useful service it is for the community.” She has now bought a second premises in nearby Tonteg, and plans to open another Electrolux-equipped launderette.
