The Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council (HLAC) reports increased interest in the importance of healthcare laundry accreditation and standards as part of a hospital’s infection prevention strategy.
The Council unveiled a revised standard for 2016 at its booth at the recent Clean Show. It says that, during the exhibition, visitors from healthcare laundries confirmed that a growing number of hospitals are specifying accreditation as a requirement for laundries to be considered as suppliers.
Gregory Gicewicz, president of the HLAC board, said that interest in accreditation was not confined to hospitals in the USA and that a number of international launderers were considering accreditation.
HLAC’s revised standard for accreditation will come into effect from 1 January 2016.
