Banbury-based MIT Handling Systems has devised a cost-effectiv efficient solution to moving roll cages of linen at Holmes Place laundry division.
The roll cages of linen are delivered to the ground floor of the laundry plant, but then have to be transported to the second or third floor for processing or storage.
Previously cages had been carried physically up the stairs. As two to three staff were required to move each cage, this was inefficient, physically strenuous and time consuming. Moving goods physically also led to overcrowding on the ground floor at peak times as cages awaited moving, affecting efficiency and productivity.
Space was limited so the required lift had to fit into a 2.5m2 floor space.
MIT installed a three-tier goods lift with Mitsubishi programmable logic control fitted with a modem to allow any faults to be identified and corrected remotely.
