The Maytag volunteers were part of a team of laundry professionals organised by the Coin Laundry Association’s LaundryCares Foundation.
The team worked for a day and sided the house and completed much of the exterior painting. The company’s well-known character, the Maytag Repairman, Clay Jackson, visited the site to encourage the workers.
“New Orleans is much more than the French Quarter. There is still a lot of work to be done to repair the damage caused by Hurricane Katrina,” said Craig Kirchner, global director of Maytag Commercial Laundry. “It was a long, hot day of work, but helping with this build was very rewarding.”
