Funding from the US Department of Agriculture has allowed Tantone Industries, a non-profit sheltered workshop in Branson, Missouri, to use Maytag washers and dryers for its laundry services.

Tantone provides a laundry service to local businesses in this tourist town. It cleans more than 77,000 lb of linen each year and provides employment to area adults with disabilities.

The workshop uses three Maytag soft-mount washers, one top-load single-load washer and three Energy Advantage multi-load dryers and Maytag’s local distributor, John Morris Equipment, advised on the most suitable machines.

The machines are simple to use with preset programs for specific categories. Chemicals, supplied and installed by Ecolab are dosed directly into the machines. Employees can wash a load at the touch of a button.

Sarah Baty, Tantone’s general manager, said that the workshop provides a range of services but that laundry work was very popular and in part this could be because the machines are so easy to manage.
