The Coin Laundry Association in the United States has put out a video to highlight how laundry owners have stepped up to take care of their customers and their communities.

Access to clean clothes has never been more important than during the Covid-19 pandemic, says the association, and points out that tens of millions of families rely on laundromats every week for their clean clothes and linen.

More than 120,000 laundromat attendants in the US join grocery workers, delivery drivers, public transportation employees, and other workers on the front lines, willing to serve their communities in the face of this crisis.

Laundromat attendants are essential and to keep both customers and employees safer during the crisis, laundromat owners are innovating ways to follow the best guidance from public health experts including instigating comprehensive cleaning and disinfecting procedures and helping customers to maintain social distancing while doing laundry.

A report on the video launch in Planet Laundry quoted CLA president and CEO Brian Wallace saying: “We are proud to release this video today as a small token of our appreciation for the hard-working laundromat owners and their attendants – as well as for the families who support our businesses."

The video shares images of attendants disinfecting washers and dryers, along with hard surfaces such as door handles and folding tables. Also evident are the new social distancing policies being used at laundromats to keep everyone safer while helping customers maintain the highest level of hygiene possible during the coronavirus pandemic.

“The laundromat industry has risen to the challenge of Covid-19 by putting customers and their well-being first,” added CLA Board Chair Brian Grell, executive vice president of Eastern Funding. “More than ever, laundromats are essential to keeping our neighborhoods safe and clean.”

Laundromat owners, equipment distributors and manufacturers – and everyone involved in the industry – can access this special video at https://vimeo.com/425555919. The CLA is encouraging viewers to post the link to their websites and share through their social media channels.
