Tonrose and Joshua Hoyle have merged their businesses, creating “a household textile supply business with annual revenues in excess of £12million”. The new company is to be called Tonrose (incorporating Joshua Hoyle).

It is expected that the deal will lead to expansion in the textile rental and contract hotel supply business. A spokesman told LCN there were no redundancies.

Gill Saxon, sales director of the new company, was enthusiastic about prospects for the future: “This is a great opportunity for us and a real bonus for all our customers in the textile rental market. We have now got the critical mass to be able to offer an across-the-board stock service for all the products in our catalogues, as well as the strength to market them effectively as we expand our business offerings.” The two Lancashire-based companies have been suppliers to UK hotels and restaurants for many years, enjoying contracts with most of the major players in the textile rental industry. Ms Saxon said: “The merger of our two companies will give us the opportunity of supplying the hospitality business with the most comprehensive array of products available from one source.” The company’s textile products include pure cottons, cotton/polyester blends and 100% polyester. It has a variety of designs, weights and dye-fast colours, and produces sheets, pillow cases, towelling products and “a vast array” of napery. All will be available from the existing warehouse and distribution centre at Ramsbottom, Lancashire. Ms Saxon added: “We will also be able to offer a very fast service when we need to sample new products to our customers, as we will have our own sewing and hemming plant which is fully equipped to manufacture precision-sewn textile products in a very short period of time.” Peter Hill, formerly director of Joshua Hoyle, is to join the board as sourcing and procurement director. He has “a wealth of manufacturing experience on a world scale”. The new business will be chaired by Lord Sheldon.
