The Coronavirus Job Retention or Furlough Scheme is changing to a flexible furlough model from 1 July, one month earlier than the date previously floated by the Government.
The final date by which an employer can furlough an employee for the first time is 10 June to ensure the current three-week furlough period is completed by 30 June.
Employers will have until 31 July to make any claims in respect of the period to 30 June. To allow the authorities to introduce the new, flexible furlough from 1 July, the old scheme will be closed to new entrants on 30 June.
From this point onwards, employers will only be able to furlough employees (either on a full time or part time basis) that they have already furloughed for a full three-week period prior to 30 June
