The European Textile Services Association (ETSA) has published its initial findings in a project intended to monitor the laundry/textile rental sector’s carbon footprint.
The report – "Assessment of Global Warming Potential of Two Textile Services" – found that to supply one worker with workwear for one year, involves 46kg of CO2 emissions, while delivering hotel bed linen for one year has a total carbon footprint of 90kg.
EcoForum (Denmark) helped ETSA and its members to establish a methodology for calculating the impact of both workwear and linen services. ETSA’s report summarises both this and the first assessment results. ETSA has also putblished two factsheets, giving the findings in more detail.
