According to MiRiCal Emblems, laundries are used to demonstrating their compliance on a whole number of issues but what about the continued compliance of rental workwear and, specifically, high visibility workwear? The company has a solution that ensures uniform rental businesses and their customers can easily check that garments are compliant to the required international standard for safe use of high visibility compliance in use.

When new, explains MiRical Emblems, a high visibility garment will comply with ISO 20471 but continued exposure to UV light over a typical wear cycle will cause the high visibility colour to fade and ultimately fall out of compliance with that standard. Until now, the only way to determine if a high visibility garment is compliant or not is to send individual items away for laboratory testing which is neither practical nor cost-effective. Inevitably, there will be garments in circulation that are not compliant with the required international standard.

The Sun-Safe Indicator from MiRiCal Emblems is a simple heat-applied transfer that deploys a patented ink system designed to fade away at the same rate as the garment and by the time the indicator displays a message of ‘unsafe’, the garment will have fallen out of compliance in terms of the chromaticity of the fabric colour and should be replaced.

The Sun-Safe Indicator has been thoroughly tested and is patent-pending worldwide.  Just like any industrial wash resistant transfer available from MiRiCal Emblems, it will resist 50+ industrial laundering cycles and the patented ink system only reacts to UV light so there is no danger that repeated laundering will generate a false positive indication. The indicator can be added to any high visibility garment in is a size that is discreet and yet displays a clear message.

Best of all, says the company, the unit price is extremely competitive which means that keeping laundry customers and their employees safer won’t hurt the bottom line. MiRiCal’s managing director, Jonathan Dul commented: “Sun-Safe Indicator is the simple, low-cost addition to any high visibility garment that will alert the wearer when the point of non-compliance is reached. We have seen considerable interest from workwear rental operators worldwide but there is still time to gain a competitive advantage by adopting this system.”
