Bradford based chemicals manufacturer Christeyns joins other local and regional manufacturers for the second Bradford Manufacturing Weeks event, showcasing the innovation and variety the industry has to offer.

Launched by Bradford Chamber of Commerce and backed by the Bradford Economic Partnership, Bradford Manufacturing Weeks brings manufacturers, schools, young people and parents together through tours, work experience, seminars, exhibitions and learning events held at manufacturer premises and key locations across the district.

Following the success of its inaugural event last year, this 2019 initiative is running an extended period of two weeks, to 18 October. During this time, Christeyns, along with other manufacturers, hosts students from the Bradford area offering an opportunity to experience what it’s like to work in the manufacturing industry.

Over three days, thirty 14-18 year old students will experience many aspects of the Christeyns business ranging from product development to marketing, quality control and production planning.

“There are so many functions in our business,” explains Christeyns managing director Nick Garthwaite.  “The students will get the chance to experience what it’s like working in many of them as they research, develop and produce a product for us.  We hope that by getting fully involved they will experience a taste for the diversity of job roles that exist within the manufacturing sector and that we can encourage more young people to take up a career in manufacturing.”

As well as work experience days, Christeyns are also providing a series of factory tours during the week for schools and students wanting to take a look around a manufacturing environment and explore what goes on behind the factory gates.
