New EU regulations on Ozone depleting substances have brought a ban on CFC113 solvent a stage nearer, says the FCRA.
Companies which have not yet started making plans to replace CFC113 equipment or to dispose of surplus solvent should beware of leaving it too late, the research association has warned. The solvent is already banned in Germany.
The FCRA has also warned that member states could enforce the recent VOC directive, which was adopted on March 11, before the required date and that directive guidelines can be replaced with stricter requirements.
However, it says, there is no reason at this stage to believe that the UK would do this.
Following the adoption of the directive, member states have up to two years to incorporate the directive into national legislation.
New businesses and those which make any substantial equipment changes will have to comply when the legislation comes into force and existing businesses by 2007.
