Cannon Hygiene, the washroom products, hygiene supplies and disposal specialist, has achieved ISO 14001 accreditation for its environmental management system (EMS).
In achieving accreditation, Cannon, part of the OCS Group, targeted nearly 30 environmental aspects of its business, grading them between one and five according to their significance in terms of the environmental impact they can have—both on employees and on the immediate surrounding area.
Audrey Morris of Cannon commented: “The benefits that accrue from achieving ISO 14001 accreditation are considerable. It has enabled us to put in place and maintain the mechanics of a system that ensures the highest EMS standards, and this can only be good for our employees and the public at large.” The company is confident that accreditation will improve cost control, reduce the likelihood of heath and safety related incidents, and be a conservation factor.
Cannon’s existing EMS runs in tandem with the system requirements specified in ISO 14001, with elements adapted accordingly to ensure compliance with accreditation stipulations.
