Although Bill was only with LCN for a relatively short period, I like to think he enjoyed his time with the journal. His background was in the power industry. He had been an engineer in this sector for several years and had worked in South Africa, Libya and Dubai, before starting a career in technical journalism where he went on to manage large portfolios of journals with great success.

The laundry and drycleaning industries were something of a departure, but his engineering background gave him authority in dealing with technical aspects and he had plenty of ideas for developing the journal.

On a personal note, Bill was a kind and generous person who worked to encourage his staff. I remember his liking for jazz and his passionate support of West Ham.
