Bradford-based hygiene specialist, Christeyns, has appointed a new engineering manager for its UK & Ireland operations. Paul Berry replaces Peter Jackson who has moved to head commercial laundry at Christeyns’ sister operation, UNX Christeyns in the USA.
Berry has more than 30 years’ experience in the engineering sector, having started as a heating and plumbing engineer before joining Christeyns as an installation engineer in 2002.
Over the years Berry has taken the lead as project manager on many large Christeyns’ projects in the laundry sector, including new build laundries in Dartford, Southampton and Leeds. He held the role of deputy manager for several years.
“I am delighted to head up the engineering team and to continue to build on its reputation for quality and expertise,” said Berry. “My priority in the coming months is recruitment, to strengthen the current team, to bring on and train new employees so that we can ensure optimum service levels for all our clients.”
The water and energy team covers the whole of the UK and Eire and has also recently supported Christeyns’ first commercial laundry installation in Campbelltown Australia.
Berry will also be responsible for the dissemination of the new online parts ordering system run via Swiftcloud which is now available to all customers. Launched just last month, the Christeyns Parts Portal (CPP), is a standalone services and spares e-commerce platform provided for the use of engineers onsite.

The CPP offers a detailed parts catalogue with schematics and specifications to ensure the right part is ordered and delivered as required, reducing any possible machine downtime.
Integrated back-office connections reduce administration and processing times as well as risk. Customers order on their own account and pricing terms with access to a full catalogue of items 24/7. The ability to order onsite easily and quickly will result in both time and cost savings as manual processes are reduced.
The ordering platform is being coordinated from the engineering office in Bradford which houses a large stock of parts and items will be delivered directly by courier.
This is a further significant investment in the engineering service offering from Christeyns, bringing benefits for both customers and the team. The facility in Cutler Heights is an important hub for its commercial laundry engineering division, currently handling multi-million-pound contracts for laundries nationwide.
This 5,600 sq ft facility includes a spare parts warehouse, maintenance workshop with tool stations for equipment testing and refurbishments, modern meeting room and training facility as well as offices and supports the continual development of new technologies and Christeyns energy and water reducing systems.
Christeyns UK is part of international detergents and chemicals specialist Christeyns with the global headquarters is in Belgium.
