Texcare International

Frankfurt showcase becomes even bigger

4 March 2008

With revised opening days, more exhibitors, an improved industry forum and several companies taking larger stands, the organiser expects this year’s Texcare International to be the best so far. Tony Vince reports from Frankfurt

Messe Frankfurt is confident that the Texcare International 2008 exhibition will be the best of these shows for many years. The opening days have been changed in response to reaction after the last show. The textile care forum promises an improved programme and there has been a ten percent increase in the net exhibition space sold so far.

According to Detlef Braun, member of the board of management of Messe Frankfurt, Texcare is a mature event and should be considered the world's foremost independent meeting place for the international textile-care sector.

At a briefing in Frankfurt in February, he told journalists that more than 200 exhibitors have already signed up with more than 60% of them from outside Germany, and several companies have increased the size of their stands.

The exhibitor list includes Kannegiesser, Jensen Group, Ecolab, Lavatec, Pellerin Milnor, Alliance Laundry Systems, Renzacci, Girbau, Multimatic, Ilsa and Miele.

The organiser emphasised Texcare International’s importance as a forum for innovation and an independent platform for textile care.

The first Texcare International was in 1956, said Detlef Braun, and aspects of the exhibition format have had to change with each show over the last 50 years in response to exhibitor and visitor demand.

Significantly, the days on which the 2008 show runs have been changed and this year’s event now includes a full weekend as it runs from Saturday 31 May to Wednesday 4 June, 2008.

“Exhibitors use Texcare to present their innovations to an international audience of experts for the first time,” said Detlef Braun.

“This is where companies present their latest developments for the entire spectrum of modern textile care, from laundry and drycleaning technology, via finishing equipment to logistics and transport, research and services.”

Texcare is also where specialists from all over the world discuss subjects that will affect the sector in the future.

“It is also the meeting place for over 13,000 trade visitors – a good two-thirds of them holding top managerial positions,” added Braun.

Taking on challenges

The international textile care sector is equipping itself for the future, said Peter Wennekes, secretary general of CINET – Comité International l’Entretien du Textile.

“With the Texcare Forum we have a high-grade programme of lectures on trends for the textile care sector of the future.” The theme of this year’s forum is “Challenges in a Global Textile Care and Service Market”.

Experts from the scientific world, business and trade associations will provide detailed insights into the future of the textile care sector. The Forum is organised by Messe Frankfurt in co-operation with CINET; Deutscher Textilreinigungs-Verband (DTV); Fachverband Bekleidungs-und Ledertechnik im VDMA; Industrieverband Textil Service; the Hohensteiner Institute; and wfk-Forschungsinstitut.

On Saturday, 31 May and Sunday, 1 June the forum is aimed primarily at drycleaning companies and will cover topics such as environmental protection, technology and market development.

On Monday, 2 June and Tuesday, 3 June the focus will be on laundries and textile-leasing companies and cover management, resource conservation, innovative technology and international market development.

The venue on all four days is the Symmetrie room in Hall 8.1 and lectures will be presented in English or German with simultaneous translation.

Attendance at the Texcare Forum is included in the ticket for Texcare International.
