Organisers’ regret as Texcare International 2021 axed

It seems we have been a long time waiting for the other shoe to drop on Texcare, writes Kathy Bowry, but in reality, it all happened rather quickly. It was only just over a month ago that LCNi published a positive interview by organisers Messe Frankfurt with Elena Lai of the European textile services association, ETSA*, on the advanced technologies to be showcased at the show in Frankfurt in November.
Texcare International 2021 officially cancelled

Texcare International 2021 slated to be held in Frankfurt, Germany at the end of November has been cancelled. Organisers Messe Frankfurt issued a statement on Tuesday, 7 September saying: “Leading suppliers of laundry and drycleaning technology have used the free cancellation deadline offered by Messe Frankfurt against the background of the pandemic and cancelled their participation in Texcare International 2021 shortly before expiry. In view of this the Advisory Council of the world’s leading textile-care fair has voted to cancel Texcare International for this year because its success can no longer be guaranteed.
Asia & China Laundry Expo postponed to December

The 2021 edition of Texcare Asia & China Laundry Expo (TXCA & CLE) will now take place 22–24 December instead of its original late-September date. The postponement is due to uncertainty around participants being able to travel to Shanghai at this time, as China continues with its anti-epidemic measures following an increase in Covid cases in late-July.
Pakistan girls’ school supported by Carrington Textiles International

FT report: Hotels and laundries suffering with linen supply amid labour shortages and rising costs
UK The Financial Times, Sunday, 5 September, reported on the struggles that hospitality laundries and major hotels are having keeping on top of linen supplies amid labour shortages, rising laundry production costs and a surge in demand for domestic tourism. This news is no surprise to laundry/linen rental operators as textile service Association (TSA) CEO was warning about the situation in August.
Metro Detroit hospital services extend long-term Lavatec partnership

Last year, Metropolitan Detroit Area Hospital Services (MDAHS) completed construction of a gleaming new, state-of-the-art laundry facility down the street from Henry Ford Hospital on Elijah McCoy Drive. Fourteen years after first connecting on a tunnel washing system, they selected Lavatec once again and have installed new wash equipment that’s producing more impressive results and generating significant energy savings, reports Lavatec.
Decarbonise now with Rinnai N Series and BioLPG

When combined, the Rinnai Sensei N Series, a new generation hot water heating system and BioLPG, an eco-friendly fuel source that reduces harmful emissions, can contribute directly towards global decarbonisation. In an earlier report conducted by Rinnai possible savings of 81% on carbon emissions in off-grid sites converting to BioLPG as its main fuel source have been documented and verified.
UKCA marking: Government announces extension to standstill period

The UK Government has announced new legislation that will enable products that have not been UKCA marked, including personal protective equipment (PPE), to continue to be placed on the GB market until 1 January 2023, provided the product has valid CE certification.
