Oxwash commits to net zero emissions by 2023
UK Oxwash has announced it is aiming for net zero carbon emissions by 2023, in line with the UK Government’s ambition to be carbon neutral by 2050. Oxwash is one of 32 scale-ups and start-ups selected by Tech Nation and 40 specialists, including climate specialists, investors and senior representatives from companies such as Google, National Grid, Sky Ocean, Bulb and B Corp.
Norchem CEO dies after shooting incident in Los Angeles
USA Sad news from the TRSA, the North American linen rental trade association, which reported the death of Kevin Minissian, CEO of industry supplier Norchem Corp, Los Angeles, on 23 November in Pasadena, California. According to a news release from the company, which Minissian founded in 1978, his sudden and unexpected passing resulted from gunshots fired by an armed suspect during a neighbourhood crime spree.
Texcare Asia & China Laundry Expo moves to August 2022
INTERNATIONAL In support of the Chinese government’s pandemic control measures, the organisers of Texcare Asia & China Laundry Expo (TXCA & CLE) have announced the deferral of the upcoming edition of the show. Previously scheduled to take place later this year 22-24 December, having already moved from September, the fair will instead be held in its usual pre-Covid time slot of 11-13 August 2022 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.
Sussex drycleaner fears more Covid restrictions will hit High Street hard

As high streets brace themselves for the effects of new Covid restrictions, 2021 ends much as it began for many of our well-loved shops, with trading conditions tough and the future uncertain. For long-established independent drycleaners, Goldfinch’s, in the historic town of Lewes, East Sussex, trade has already started to fall, just days after an increase in coronavirus cases was reported in the county. Footfall at Goldfinch’s in Cliffe High Street has tailed off noticeably, as co-director Laura Hughes explains: “Already we are hearing from customers that they are not keen to venture into town to see us and, although we’ve increase our collection and delivery service, our takings have been affected by the renewed fear
from the virus.”
Obituary: Neville Wells, Past Master, The Worshipful Company of Launderers
UK Neville Manwaring Wells, Master of the The Worshipful Company of Launderers, 1973/74 died 19 October 2021 after a short illness, writes current Master Ken Cupitt. The much-loved father of Frances, Michael and Martin, and grandfather to Daniel, Hannah, Jason, Joshua, Toby, Sam and Jack and great-grandfather to Deakan, died peacefully in his sleep at Maidstone Hospital with his children at his bedside. His funeral service was held at St Peter’s Church, Limpsfield on 25 November with the church full of mourners, including many from the laundry industry as well as others representing the varied activity groups that he supported.
