Oxwash adds 100% electric van to net-zero fleet

Oxwash, has acquired a brand new all-electric van. Introduced in the UK last year, the a zero-emission Maxus eDeliver 3, one of the first electric-only vans to be sold in the UK, is the solution to improving logistics without compromising sustainability efforts, said the company. Sustainability is at the core of everything Oxwash does, so the key to expansion was finding a solution to access customers further afield while remaining net-zero.

It was a crisp fresh November morning when the Swedish Textile Service Association (Sveriges Tvätteriförbund) gathered once again for an autumn meeting after a break of two years. One hundred and thirty delegates met at the Hotel Blique by Nobis, designed by Sigurd Lewerentz, which opened in 2019 with generous areas, a roof terrace and an optimal location between Vasastaden and in the adjacent Hagastaden.

TSA plans sustainability pact with commercial laundries

The Textile Services Association (TSA) is putting together a Sustainability Pact that’s designed to support commercial laundries in their drive to deliver a more sustainable future. The Pact will also support the hospitality industry’s net zero carbon objectives, but, as Shyju Skariah, technical services manager at the TSA, points out: “We don’t just want to focus on net zero carbon. We also need to be tackling water quality, reducing waste – this is so much more than a simple net zero tag.’’

It’s all in the finish: techniques for jackets

Cleaners frequently face difficult quality issues when finishing jackets. This is particularly the case with the sleeve seams where the sleeve is attached to the jacket and occasionally the pocket flap seams, to say nothing of the problems arising from fusible interlinings. For more than 50 years fusible interlinings have regularly been a source of difficult to resolve finishing faults, mainly caused by relaxation/shrinkage of the interlining resulting in rippling effects on the outer fabric or by localised breakdown of the bond leading to bubbles or blisters. Over the years the industry has developed techniques that in many cases will correct or mitigate the faults associated with these interlinings.
