Tough talking from the top
The Textile Services Association (TSA) National Congress at the Marriott Forest of Arden Hotel and Country Club in the West Midlands (10 November), saw the TSA bring together the senior decision makers from within the industry. The event was targeted at the owners, CEOs and senior directors of the association’s membership. TSA National Congress, a smaller, more condensed event than September’s TSA Autumn Conference with high quality papers on industry themes, brought in onetime Conservative MP and now celebrity train traveller, Michael Portillo as keynote speaker.

Well, here we go again. Christmas and New Year are on our doorstep and covid-19 has sent everything spinning off into chaos for the second year in a row. Nevertheless, we have got to the end of 2021, albeit with cost, both personally and economically, and we must all stay positive and hope we can turn things around in 2022.

UK In June, LCN caught up with Sandy and Angie Alexander who are selling their successful three-site business, Staypress, after 32 years trading. The business has grown over time from an at-home ironing service started by Angie, to three outlets in the Lothians Musselburgh, Haddington and Dalkeith – offering laundry, ironing and drycleaning services to local households. Although the business has stood up well to the ravages of the pandemic, and back in June was beginning to see an uplift in demand, the couple recently took stock and decided it was time to ‘seize the day’ and move on to a new life in Spain.

USA ImageFIRST Healthcare Laundry Specialists, King of Prussia, PA, recently announced the acquisition of Puget Sound Laundry Services, a division of Northwest Center Services, Seattle, reports TRSA. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
