Miele Professional has launched free online training designed to guide carers and other care home staff through the fundamental aspects of infection prevention and control within the care home environment.

Accredited by the Infection Prevention Society, the training covers all key areas, including how to prevent the spread of infection, the most common types of infections encountered in care homes, and infection control in the laundry room.

The training will be hosted through Microsoft SharePoint, and users can access it by simply providing their name and email address. Upon completion, staff will be able to take a quiz to test their knowledge and download a certificate as evidence of their learning.

Commenting on the training, Nicky Whittaker, national account manager at Miele Professional, who has over 15 years’ experience in the commercial laundry sector and specialises in the care and social housing sector, said: “We know that care home staff are required to complete infection prevention training as part of their roles, as it protects vulnerable residents and helps staff provide top-quality care. By offering a free online resource that is always accessible, this training will ensure that staff can stay up to date with best practices in infection control and learn how to get the most out of their laundry products in the fight against infection”.
