Dr Marco Niccolini, general sales and marketing director at Renzacci, told LCNi at Texcare 2024 that he believes the all solvent suppliers in 2025 will be presenting alternative solvents to Perchloethylene.
He also strongly encourages the industry to rid itself of the notion that cleaners need to take a side when it comes to choosing between drycleaning and wetcleaning and advocates, as he has done for some time, that they do both. “The combination of two options is an important asset for professional laundry businesses to grow going forward. And people like to have the choice.”
So what is new from Renzacci? Innovative bio drycleaning machines, with their impressive technical superiority offer a new service that combines high-quality cleaning with well-being, bio-compatibility, and eco-sustainability, he says.
Renzacci has already achieved great success with its new generation of bio drycleaning machines in its Red Stripe series. A major and significant innovation, he explains, can be seen in the form of the new Red Stripe drying tunnel, which offers a serious time saving over the entire cycle, and significant reduced energy use, hence welcome cost savings.
“Moreover, Renzacci’s new generation of solvent filtration systems, the No Flex System, has improved the machines’ filtration performance, ensuring a superior cleaning quality while reducing energy costs.” Niccolini admits to being thrilled with these new filtration disks, adding: “They offer more filtration – to less than 30 micron – and increase protection from impurities. Additionally, the filter must be rigid and parallel as the solvent hits it like like a wall and this is waht we have achieved here.”
Meanwhile, a new air dryer arrives on a small footprint as Renzacci takes on board that space is an issue and reassures cleaners that this compact machine, depite its size, offers increased drying efficiency and recovery.
At the same time, a software update with enhanced digital functions allows for continuous monitoring and control, as well as offering the operator a detailed cost and revenue analysis.
Meanwhile, new models in the HS ECO series washing machines (particularly the 18, 24, and 28 kg versions) not only feature a software update that reduces energy and water consumption but are fitted with Renzacci’s Plastic Guard filter. This is big news because the filter provides an effective solution against microplastics, a problem that is exercising the minds of operators and customers globally. It is the second generation of the Plastic Guard which detects and entraps microplastics.
“Finally, we introduced the new R40 dryer with an 18 kg loading capacity. This model features a redesigned and comprehensive air flow orientation, which significantly reduces both energy consumption and drying times,” says Niccolini. “This new 18kg dryer is not just about its new capacity – we have a wide array of dryers anyway. The change is in engineering better air flow offering a faster cycle which for coin-op businesses is important.”
Survival of the greenest
According to Dr Marco Niccolini, of the 2,550 drycleaning machines Renzacci has out in the world, only10% are now using Perc. He says that even where legislation is not in force banning or discouraging its use, chlorinated solvents, and Perc is one, melt 70% of textiles. As he points out we are using more man-made textiles than we are the traditional pure wool garments, for example. He believes, apart from ecological and health concerns, drycleaners using Perc face big issues. “It is time to change tools,” he says.
Niccolini passes on the following valuable marketing tip:.”The young and not so young are very eco conscious. There is an €8 billion bio market for food, clothing and so on out there. If you are proactive in this regard you will be rewarded. The zeitgeist is wellness for the planet. Cleaners must wake up to these new trends.”
