Problem: The cream grain leather surface for these natural skins has been laminated to a clear plastic film to create a jacket with a high gloss natural leather look. The garment survived drycleaning but partial delamination of the coating occurred accompanied by ugly and random dark marking.
Cause: Soiling from the cleaning fluid appears to have been attracted to the interface between the coating and the grain leather and this has not been flushed away. When the solvent dried off, the soiling was left behind to produce the marking now seen.
Responsibility: This garment would probably have passed a standard drycleanability test if it was placed brand new and unsoiled into a clean laboratory machine. However, it is not suitable for commercial cleaning because of the soil retention characteristic seen. The blame in this case lies with the garment maker.
Rectification: Unfortunately, there is no way of putting this fault right.
