CLEAN, the independent linen and workwear rental services provider, has received accreditation from Alcumus SafeContractor, the UK’s health and safety assessment scheme, for achieving excellence in health and safety in the workplace.

The accreditation scheme recognises Clean’s rigorous standards in health and safety management amongst contractors. The standard is commended by thousands of organisations in the UK including SMEs and FTSE100 companies, who make use of the Alcumus-approved list to identify SafeContractor-accredited service providers.

Clean’s company application for SafeContractor accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the business.

Employing more than 1,450 people across England, Clean supplies textile rental and laundry services to the hospitality sector, delivering upwards of five million linen items to its customers each week.

Sarah Cooper, chief people officer at Clean, said: “Gaining accreditation from SafeContractor is testament to the Clean operations team who have delivered extensive health and safety checks and implemented procedures to eliminate potential risks across all seven of our laundry sites, head office and customer service centre.”

Gemma Archibald, director of Alcumus SafeContractor, added: “More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that CLEAN has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector.”
