David Goodship has rejoined Armstrong Commercial Laundry Systems, becoming a member of the company’s parts department 14 years after he left to re-train as a computer engineer.
Goodship joined Armstrong Commercial Laundry Systems in 1983. Although it was meant to be a temporary job after having just left university, he became the company’s first employee in Newbury and ended up staying for 18 years in a variety of roles ending up as distribution manager.
In 2001 Goodship successfully completed a six-month, self-financed training course to become a Microsoft Certified Professional. He left Armstrong to join a local IT company where he stayed for the next 14 years, working his way up to become technical lead engineer to the software asset management team.
Tiring of the travel he recently decided to look for a job with more regular hours. Goodship said: "I couldn’t believe my luck when I spotted an advertisement in the local paper for a job in the parts team at Armstrong for which I applied and was accepted!"
Armstrong director Tom Lowes said: "We were sorry to lose David in 2002 but we are very pleased to welcome him back again!"
