MODRoto has developed bulk laundry carts with a rotationally moulded plastic design that is highly compatible with RFID signal transmissions.
Tests show that the plastic laundry carts allow the RFID signal to pass through the cart body to accurately read each tag. Accuracy, rates as high as 99.98% can be achieved.
Herb Markman, CEO of Positek RFID, explains that metal interferes with the transmission of RFID, and that while there are some solutions that improve read rates in metal carts, plastic carts are the best solution for laundries using RFID.
ModRoto’s 101P series laundry carts have two plastic non-removable shelves set inside the plastic cart body. The RFID signal may be read when clean linen is stacked on the shelves and again when, the shelves have been switched to a vertical position, and the cart is being used for soiled linen.
The company’s vinyl cart covers also allow RFID signals to transmit without interference.
