The Hohenstein Institute is researching sustainable processes that will help polycottons stay white for longer.

The ongoing project is designed to find solutions that will help textiles to keep their value long-term, guarantee a high level of process security and lead to stable laundry costs.

Project manager Eva Gierling said that the research would be used to develop a sample detergent formula and a wash process for hotel textiles and white workwear.

The research could form the basis for commercial laundries, detergent specialists, industrial washing machine manufacturers and textile producers to develop their own sustainable products and processes to prevent premature greying of polycotton blends.
