Katz was well known throughout the textile care industry and an active member of the Textile Care Allied Trades Association (TCATA). He chaired the association’s business programme at the 2004 conference. He was a member of the board of directors for four years and treasurer for two years.

After graduating from Indiana University, he pursued a career in the laundry and drycleaning industry.

He was also an active member of his community and enjoyed golfing, going fishing with his grandchildren and Notre Dame football.

His wife Laurie, children Hal, David, and Jamie, and four grandsons survive him.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, 23 August at Sinai Synagogue in South Bend, Indiana.
