The programme will include certification systems to meet the specific requirements of certain sectors. It currently covers laundries working with medical establishments and a certification system for laundries supplying the food service sector will soon be available.

To attain a Hygienically Clean certificate, a laundry must follow best management practices and pass bacteriological testing and site inspections. While laundries do not have to use specific processes or chemicals they will need to keep written records of management practice and procedures in a quality control manual.

TRSA will inspect this documentation and carry out an on-site inspection. The laundries will also be subject to bacteriological testing each month for the first three months of certification. Subsequently sites will be inspected every three years and bacteriological tests will be repeated every six months.
