Permit application fees for drycleaners are unchanged from last year at £148, according to Defra (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs), in its annual revision of industrial pollution control fees and charges.

The annual subsistence charge (the fee to keep the permit valid) also remains unchanged at £151.

Under the Solvent Emissions Directive, drycleaners require a permit to operate and local councils implement the directive under the Local Air Pollution Prevention and Control (LAPPC) system.
