The address was given by Rabbi Golomb of the Sheffield Jewish Congregation, and Andrew Nunn, chaplain to the Company, read the Prayer for the City of London and the Launderers Company. The evening’s theme was Sheffield, home town of the Master of the Worshipful Company of Launderers, Selwyn M Burchhardt. Gordon Bridge, Master of the Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire, based in Sheffield was a guest at the event.

The dinner was held at Launderers’ Hall where the principal speaker was Nick Clegg MP, who took time from the LibDem leadership election to attend and who proposed the toast to the Worshipful Company. The Renter Warden, Murray Simpson, proposed the toast to the visitors.

Burchhardt said: “I was absolutely delighted at the response of the Livery to attend the service at Bevis Marks and everyone enjoyed the experience.”
