Midland Linen Services has won one of the first New Economic Foundation’s Inner City 100 awards, the only laundry company to do so. Launched last year to change the economic image of the inner cities, the awards recognise the company’s success in growing its business over the past five years. Chancellor Gordon Brown presented the award at a ceremony in November to Jeffrey Yapp, managing director and founder. The company increased turnover between 1991 and 1995 by 91% and increased its workforce from 28 to 38.
