In response to a demand from its members, the Guild of Cleaners and Launderers has decided to investigate ways of becoming more commercially aware, reported Guild News, the official publication of the organisation.
A new scheme is to be investigated, referred to as the “Star Scheme”, which will promote holders of practical skill certificates. Participants in the scheme will be issued with a star to be posted up in the shop window for each member of staff who holds a Guild practical certificate.
Doug Coates, of the Yorkshire Centre, is heading a group which is looking for members to help with a training committee, with the aim of providing members with easy access to training and subsequent qualification.
The “Star Scheme” is intended to distinguish those businesses which have skilled, competent qualified staff on the premises, enabling the public to easily recognise cleaners who are ‘masters of their craft’. The scheme will be optional with the official launch following later this year.
